Sandy and I were looking over the space in our library and decided the space was missing something. Sandy came up with the thought that the space could use an N scale coffee table layout in front of the love seat. I jumped at the chance to add another layout to my ever growing collection. We began when I found some N scale EZ Track that I had packed away from when Ted had an N scale layout from years ago. We later picked up an Ann Arbor GP35 locomotive and a couple of Ann Arbor boxcars from Mountain Town Hobbies in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. The next day we took a trip to Junction Valley Railroad's hobby shop and picked up a few buildings some trees and people for the layout. The layout is just starting to take shape and the train is running just fine.
This is an accounting of my attempts at model railroads N scale and HO or OO. I find it to be a lot of fun. I concentrate my efforts on The New York Central, Ann Arbor, Pere Marquette, Chesapeake and Ohio as it relates to the Pere Marquette, Michigan Central Railroads and my own Salt Creek Railroad. I am also interested in the Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railway, the Great Lakes Central Railroad, CSX, Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific, and BNSF. You are welcome to give me advice.

The Garden Train Ran Great
I started out by running my locomotive around the track in the garden and at first the engine would bog down a bit as it went around. The more times it went around the less I noticed the slowdowns and the smoother the locomotive would run. I then began adding cars to the train and the same result came about. I eventually had the full train running with very good result. I believe the garden train is ready to go for 2014.

Winter Is Over At Last
This year the snow hung around a lot longer than the last few years. Now my attention goes back to the garden Railroad. I was out side yesterday killing off the weeds and grass that were taking over the track on my garden layout. The weed killer said it works in three hours but so far everything still looks green, I might have to buy another product and do it again. I have repairs to do on some of the structures to bring the layout up to snuff, but that shouldn't take to long. the wiring to the track looks to be in good working order and the transformer seems to have survived the winter. Last year I expanded the layout and doubled the size of the track area. I am excited to try it out as last year I was unable to do much with the garden train. This year I am ready.

Express Mail Cars
Last year I ordered 2 express mail cars from Walthers through Mountain Town Hobbies in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. I had forgotten about them until they came in a few months ago. One was a New York Central car that I plan to add to my New York Central passenger train. and the other is a C&O car that I will be adding to my Pere Marquette passenger train. I plan to pick up the C&O car today.
The car is on my layout now as part of the Pere Marquette Passenger train and looks great I have placed it just after the RPO and before the baggage cars. My next goal is to pick up the New York Central Express Mail Car and add it to the New York Central Passenger Train. I can't wait to add it to my layout.
