My Outdoor Railroad

Upon inspection of the track I find I need to get some vegetation killer to keep the weeds and grass away from the track bed. This year the weeds have grown up quickly and are taking over the track. I need to get that taken care of before I can think about running the train.

Waiting For The Weather To Get A Bit Warmer

All winter long I wait for the weather to change so I can get outside and run my garden train. I have two trains I like to run outside. One is a New York Central freight train with a box car, a reefer, a tank car, a 2 bay hopper, a log car, a gondola and a caboose. the other is my Salt Creek freight train with a 0-4-0 switcher 2 tank cars, a gondola, a flatcar, and a caboose. The snow has all melted off the tracks but the rainy season has begun. I still need to clean off the debris from around the layout. A few buildings need repair and I am still looking for an Aristo Craft ALCO FB unit to go with the New York Central Freight Train.

Just Created A Salt Creek Caboose

Today I took a caboose in G scale and repainted it to cover up the old markings. It was formally a Santa Fe caboose. the idea is to create decals to make it a Salt Creek caboose to go along with the Steam Locomotive I have already repainted for that purpose I hope to have the decals printed in the next week. The Salt Creek railroad is made up using the old town that sat next to the Village of Shepherd in Michigan. Salt Creek has since become a memory.
